VinFast Plans Development of Two India-Specific Electric Vehicles
Designing bespoke platforms with early local-supplier integration reverses the cost structure of assembling imported knock-down kits, enabling sub-mass-market pricing against established domestic OEMs.
channelnewsasia.com reports that Vietnamese automaker VinFast plans to develop two electric vehicles specifically for the Indian market, codenamed VF X and VF Y, shifting away from adapting its existing global models. The strategy change follows a decision in July to suspend local manufacturing plans for the VF 3, VF 6, and VF 7 after high costs threatened target pricing. VinFast has pledged a $2 billion investment in India, where it opened its first factory outside Vietnam last year with an initial production capacity of 50,000 cars annually. The automaker is targeting a price below $12,000 for the entry-level VF X to compete in India's largest electric vehicle segment against Tata Motors, involving local suppliers early in the development process to control costs. Currently, VinFast imports and assembles the VF 6 and VF 7 in India, where base models sell for about $19,000 and $24,250 respectively.

American Battery Technology Receives BLM Acceptance for Tonopah Project
BLM acceptance of a mine's Plan of Operations serves as the critical regulatory trigger that unlocks conditionally approved federal grants and export-import debt support for domestic lithium extraction.
American Battery Technology Company secured acceptance of its mine and refinery Plan of Operations for the Tonopah Flats Lithium Project from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The milestone clears the primary federal hurdle for the Nevada-based deposit, which spans approximately 10,700 acres and holds an estimated mineral resource of 21.3 million metric tonnes of accessible lithium hydroxide monohydrate. The project is designed to reach a production capacity of up to 30,000 tonnes per year at full build-out. Federal backing includes a $58 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for the initial 5,000-tonne processing train and a $900 million Letter of Interest from the Export-Import Bank. The next regulatory phase requires publishing a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register to draft an Environmental Impact Statement.

EV Share of China Car Sales Surpasses 65% Amid Middle East Energy Disruptions
Geopolitical oil price shocks combined with feature-rich domestic models are permanently accelerating the demand destruction of traditional combustion vehicles in the world's largest auto market.
scmp.com reports that 65.2 per cent of the 1.54 million cars sold in mainland China last month were either pure electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles. The figure broke the previous record of 65.1 per cent set a month earlier. The pivot to electric cars comes as overall vehicle sales in China slump amid an economic slowdown. Last month, petrol car sales plunged 40 per cent year on year, while EV deliveries fell by a more modest 10.1 per cent, according to China Passenger Car Association data. The Iran war appears to be accelerating the electrification shift, as rising fuel costs prompt more Chinese consumers to shun petrol vehicles. Another factor has been the debut of hundreds of new EV models in recent months featuring advanced driver-assistance systems and other new technologies.

The EV adoption rate rose to 65.2 per cent from a previous record of 65.1 per cent.
ABM Industries Raises 2026 Outlook Following Record Q3 Results
Securing higher-margin work inside semiconductor fabs and data centers allows facility managers to offset client-side margin pressure in legacy segments like aviation.
ABM Industries reported record quarterly of $2.3 billion for the fiscal third quarter ended July 31, 2026, driven by a 4.2% top-line increase that included equal contributions from organic and -related growth. Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami Airport, Striking Vehicles
Boeing freighter hull losses hit air-cargo capacity and trigger operational liability for Amazon Prime Air's outsourced fleet operators like 21 Air.
An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon after overrunning a runway, striking multiple vehicles and halting all operations at the hub. 21 Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300 operating for Amazon Prime Air, departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and overran the diagonal runway around 2 pm local time on September 6. The aircraft came to rest on its belly near a roadway with heavy flames and smoke, prompting more than 60 units from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to respond to the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board launched investigations into the accident, while the airport issued a complete ground stop and shut down all runways and taxiways. Transportation secretary Sean Duffy warned travelers to expect significant delays and potential cancellations, and local authorities closed nearby streets including NW 67th Avenue.
