SpaceX Posts Q3 Profit as AI Revenue Surges
SpaceX reported third-quarter of $14.6 billion on Tuesday, more than doubling year-over-year and beating the $12.86 billion Wall Street consensus. The top-line expansion was driven by the company's business, renamed Super Intelligence, which generated $7.56 billion in revenue and accounted for more than half of total income through compute rentals to clients including Anthropic and Google. That growth pushed SpaceX back into profitability with $4.4 billion in , marking a sharp turnaround from a $5.5 billion loss in the same period last year. Operating income rebounded to $2.79 billion, also clearing analyst expectations of $2.33 billion. expenditures surged to $19.6 billion in the quarter, with the vast majority directed toward compute infrastructure like the Colossus II in Memphis and Starship development. CFO Bret Johnsen forecast fourth-quarter capital investments between $35 billion and $40 billion, while analysts project total capital spending to reach $197.4 billion by fiscal 2028. Connectivity revenue, anchored by Starlink, rose 69 percent to $5.25 billion as the satellite internet network added 1.6 million consumer subscribers to reach 13.6 million total users. Average monthly revenue per subscriber declined to $69 from $99 in 2023 due to international expansion with lower-priced plans. SpaceX also agreed earlier this month to acquire 800 megahertz-band licenses from Grain Management for $8 billion to bolster its Starlink Mobile service.
